About Nulibry
Overview
Nulibry contains fosdenopterin and is supplied as a powder in a vial for preparation for intravenous infusion. It is used to reduce the risk of death in patients with molybdenum cofactor deficiency (MoCD) Type A. It replaces a missing substance needed to make molybdenum cofactor, which helps activate enzymes that reduce sulfites harmful to the nervous system.

Side effects
The most common side effects, reported in more than 25% of patients, were catheter-related complications, fever, viral infections, pneumonia, middle ear infections, vomiting, coughing or sneezing, viral upper respiratory infections, gastroenteritis (inflammation of the stomach and intestines), bloodstream infections, and diarrhea. Pneumonia and bloodstream infections can be serious. Nulibry may cause sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid exposure to sunlight, and use sunscreen, protective clothing, and sunglasses when exposed to the sun. Seek medical attention immediately if sensitivity to sunlight occurs; a skin specialist’s assessment may be needed.

Before taking this medicine
The label lists no contraindications for Nulibry. There is a potential risk of sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid sunlight exposure. If sun exposure occurs, use sunscreen, protective clothing and sunglasses. If sensitivity to sunlight develops, seek medical attention immediately; a dermatological evaluation may be considered.
