Side effects

Reported side effects of bisoprolol include dizziness, headache, tiredness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, stomach discomfort, cold hands or feet, sleep disturbances, muscle or joint pain, itching and rash. Mood changes, difficulty concentrating, sexual problems and changes in vision or hearing have also been reported. The label does not establish how common these effects are, and a link to bisoprolol has not been confirmed for every reported effect. Contact a doctor promptly if you experience a slow or irregular heartbeat, fainting, low blood pressure, chest pain, breathlessness or swelling. Heart failure and narrowing of the airways have been reported. Swelling of the face, lips or tongue, difficulty breathing, or severe peeling skin reactions require urgent medical attention. Blood tests may show changes in liver enzymes, triglycerides, blood sugar, uric acid, kidney-related measurements or blood cell counts.

When to call your doctor

- Get medical help immediately for trouble breathing or wheezing. - Seek immediate care for swelling of your face, lips or tongue. - Get urgent medical attention for chest pain, fainting, or a slow or irregular heartbeat. - Seek immediate care for a severe rash with peeling skin.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
