Before taking this medicine

Do not take Xcopri if you are allergic to cenobamate or any of its inactive ingredients, or if you have familial short QT syndrome. Use requires caution in people with kidney impairment or mild to moderate liver impairment. Xcopri is not recommended for people with severe liver impairment or end-stage kidney disease requiring dialysis. Based on animal studies, it may harm an unborn baby if taken during pregnancy. Xcopri can cause serious hypersensitivity reactions, including DRESS, which may affect multiple organs, and clinically significant liver injury. Liver blood tests are needed before treatment and during treatment when clinically indicated. Treatment should be stopped if liver injury or DRESS occurs and no other cause is found. Caution is needed with other medicines that shorten the QT interval, which is part of the heart’s electrical rhythm. Alcohol and other medicines that slow brain activity may increase sleepiness and fatigue. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how Xcopri affects you. People taking Xcopri should be monitored for suicidal thoughts or behaviour. Do not stop it suddenly; it should be withdrawn gradually under medical supervision to reduce the risk of more frequent seizures.
