About Vasotec
Overview
Vasotec is a prescription medicine containing enalapril maleate, available as tablets. It is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. After conversion to its active form in the body, it blocks an enzyme called ACE, reducing production of a substance that narrows blood vessels and helping to lower blood pressure.

Before taking this medicine
Do not take Vasotec if you are allergic to enalapril maleate or any ingredient in the medicine, have previously had angioedema (swelling beneath the skin) linked to an ACE inhibitor, or have hereditary angioedema or angioedema with no known cause. Do not take Vasotec with aliskiren if you have diabetes. Do not take it with a neprilysin inhibitor, such as sacubitril. Allow at least 36 hours between stopping sacubitril/valsartan and starting Vasotec, or between stopping Vasotec and starting sacubitril/valsartan.
Interactions
Tell your doctor if you take a neprilysin inhibitor. Taking one with Vasotec may increase the risk of angioedema (swelling).

Dosing
Dosing is set by your prescriber. Each health care professional may prescribe medication differently according to a patient's medical history and condition, so follow the directions on your prescription label and speak to your doctor or pharmacist before changing anything.
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, in the original pack, away from direct light and moisture. Do not keep it in a bathroom. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
