Trelegy Ellipta

Before taking this medicine

Do not use Trelegy Ellipta if you have a severe allergy to milk proteins or an allergy to fluticasone furoate, umeclidinium, vilanterol or any other ingredient. It must not be used as the main treatment for a severe asthma attack or an acute COPD or asthma episode requiring intensive treatment. Do not start it while COPD or asthma is rapidly worsening, or use it to relieve sudden symptoms. Do not combine it with another medicine containing a long-acting beta2-agonist (LABA), as this risks overdose. Tell your prescriber if you have heart or blood vessel disease, seizures, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, ketoacidosis, narrow-angle glaucoma, difficulty passing urine, an enlarged prostate or bladder-neck obstruction. Moderate or severe liver impairment requires monitoring for corticosteroid effects. Caution is needed with existing infections, including tuberculosis, fungal, bacterial, viral or parasitic infections, or herpes simplex affecting the eye. Chickenpox or measles can be more serious or even fatal in susceptible people. Trelegy Ellipta may increase the risk of pneumonia in people with COPD and can cause thrush in the mouth or throat. Rinse your mouth with water without swallowing after inhalation to help reduce the risk of thrush. Other concerns include reduced bone density, cataracts, glaucoma, low potassium, high blood sugar and changes in adrenal gland function. Switching from systemic corticosteroids requires careful medical supervision because of the risk of impaired adrenal function. Contact a healthcare professional immediately if eye symptoms or difficulty passing urine occur. If breathing suddenly worsens immediately after inhalation, stop using Trelegy Ellipta and seek medical help.
