About Tezspire

Overview

Tezspire contains tezepelumab-ekko, a monoclonal antibody supplied in a pre-filled pen for injection under the skin. It is an add-on maintenance treatment for adults and children aged 12 years and older with severe asthma or inadequately controlled chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. It blocks TSLP, a protein involved in inflammation, although exactly how it works in these conditions has not been definitively established. It is not for relief of sudden or severe, prolonged asthma attacks.

What it treats

- Add-on maintenance treatment for severe asthma in adults and children aged 12 years and older. Not for relief of sudden airway tightening or a severe, prolonged asthma attack. - Add-on maintenance treatment for inadequately controlled chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps in adults and children aged 12 years and older.

Side effects

Common side effects reported in at least 3% of patients varied by condition: • Asthma: sore throat, joint pain and back pain. • Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps: cold symptoms, upper respiratory tract infection, nosebleeds, sore throat, back pain, flu, injection-site reactions and joint pain. Allergic reactions can occur, including rash and allergic eye inflammation. Contact a doctor if these develop. Anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction requiring immediate medical attention, has been reported after Tezspire use.

When to call your doctor

- Seek immediate medical attention for a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), which has been reported with Tezspire. - Contact your doctor if you develop a rash or red, irritated eyes, as these may be signs of an allergic reaction.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.

Before taking this medicine

Do not use Tezspire if you have a known allergy to tezepelumab-ekko or any of its other ingredients. Allergic reactions, including rash and allergic conjunctivitis (an allergic eye reaction), have occurred after treatment. Anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction, has also been reported and requires urgent medical treatment. Do not suddenly stop systemic or inhaled corticosteroids when starting Tezspire. Any reduction should be gradual and guided by your prescriber. Any existing parasitic worm infection must be treated before starting Tezspire. If an infection develops during treatment and does not respond to treatment for the infection, Tezspire should be stopped until the infection clears. Avoid live attenuated vaccines during treatment.

Storage

Store in the original carton to protect it from light. Check the pack for whether it must be refrigerated before first use and how long it may be kept at room temperature afterwards. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
