Before taking this medicine

Do not use Dulera if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. It must not be used as the primary treatment for a severe, prolonged asthma attack or an acute episode requiring intensive treatment. Do not start it when asthma is rapidly worsening or use it to treat sudden asthma symptoms. Do not use it with another long-acting beta2-agonist (LABA), because of the risk of overdose. Tell your prescriber if you have tuberculosis, a fungal, bacterial, viral or parasitic infection, or herpes simplex infection of the eye. Dulera may worsen these infections. Chickenpox or measles may be more serious or fatal in susceptible people. Extra caution or monitoring is needed if you have: - Heart or blood vessel disease, an aneurysm, or pheochromocytoma. - A seizure disorder, an overactive thyroid, diabetes or ketoacidosis. - Liver impairment. - Major risk factors for reduced bone density. - Eye symptoms or long-term Dulera use, which may require assessment for glaucoma or cataracts. Tell your prescriber if you are switching from oral steroids or taking a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor, such as ritonavir. Switching from oral steroids can impair adrenal function, while these interacting medicines may increase corticosteroid effects. Excess corticosteroid effects and adrenal suppression can also occur in susceptible people. Dulera may cause thrush in the mouth or throat; rinse your mouth with water after use and spit it out without swallowing. Children’s growth should be monitored. Low blood potassium and high blood sugar may also occur. If Dulera causes sudden worsening of breathing immediately after use, stop using it and seek medical care for alternative treatment.
