Overview

Tobrex is an antibiotic eye ointment containing tobramycin. It treats external infections of the eye and surrounding structures caused by bacteria that are sensitive to this antibiotic. It works by acting against a range of bacteria that cause eye infections.

Side effects

The most frequently reported side effects are allergic reactions and local eye reactions, including itchy or swollen eyelids and eye redness. These reactions occur in fewer than 3 in 100 people treated with Tobrex eye ointment.

When to call your doctor

- Itching or swelling of the eyelids. - Redness of the eyes.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.

Do not use Tobrex if you have a known allergy to tobramycin or any other ingredient in the medicine.
