About HyperHEP B
Overview
HyperHEP B is a human hepatitis B immune globulin medicine made from donated human plasma. It is used to help prevent hepatitis B after exposure to the virus. It supplies antibodies against hepatitis B, providing short-term protection. The label recommends using it with hepatitis B vaccine for both short- and long-term protection.
What it treats
Prevention of hepatitis B after exposure to the hepatitis B virus (post-exposure prophylaxis).
Safety information
Side effects
Possible side effects include pain and tenderness at the injection site and hives. Swelling beneath the skin (angioedema) may also occur and requires urgent medical attention. Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) have rarely been reported after injections of human immune globulin preparations and require immediate emergency care.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Interactions
HyperHEP B may interfere with some live virus vaccines, although it did not interfere with measles vaccination. The label recommends delaying live virus vaccines until approximately 3 months after receiving HyperHEP B. Tell your doctor about any planned vaccinations. Hepatitis B vaccine may be given at the same time as HyperHEP B at a different injection site without affecting the immune response. No interactions with other products are known.

Dosing

Storage
