EVENITY may increase the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and cardiovascular death. EVENITY should not be initiated in patients who have had a myocardial infarction or stroke within the preceding year. Consider whether the benefits outweigh the risks in patients with other cardiovascular risk factors. If a patient experiences a myocardial infarction or stroke during therapy, EVENITY should be discontinued.
About Evenity
Overview
Evenity (romosozumab) is a medicine supplied in a single-use pre-filled syringe for injection under the skin. It treats osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk of fracture, or for whom other osteoporosis treatments have not worked or cannot be tolerated. It blocks a protein called sclerostin, increasing new bone formation and, to a lesser extent, reducing bone breakdown.
What it treats
Osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk of fracture, including those with a previous osteoporosis-related fracture or multiple fracture risk factors, or those for whom other osteoporosis treatments have not worked or could not be tolerated.
Safety information
Side effects
The most common side effects of Evenity are joint pain and headache. Serious side effects include: - Major heart-related events, including heart attack and stroke. Seek immediate medical attention if symptoms occur. - Allergic reactions, including swelling, rash, hives and skin inflammation. Seek prompt medical attention for an allergic reaction. Evenity should be stopped if a clinically significant allergic reaction occurs. - Low blood calcium. The label advises adequate calcium and vitamin D supplementation during treatment. - Jawbone damage (osteonecrosis of the jaw). Contact your doctor if you develop jaw symptoms. - Unusual thigh bone fractures. Contact your doctor if you develop new or unusual thigh, hip or groin pain, as this needs assessment for a possible fracture.

Before taking this medicine
Do not use Evenity if you have low blood calcium or a history of a systemic allergic reaction to romosozumab or any of its ingredients. Low blood calcium must be corrected before treatment begins. Evenity carries warnings for major cardiovascular events, including heart attack and stroke. Seek prompt medical attention if symptoms occur. Treatment should be stopped if a clinically significant allergic reaction develops; reported reactions include swelling, skin reactions and hives. Adequate calcium and vitamin D supplementation is needed during treatment. People with severe kidney impairment or receiving dialysis have a greater risk of low blood calcium and need blood calcium monitoring. Other warnings include damage to the jawbone (osteonecrosis) and unusual fractures of the thigh bone. Report jaw symptoms or new or unusual thigh, hip or groin pain so they can be assessed. Your prescriber may consider stopping treatment if jawbone problems occur, based on the benefits and risks.
Interactions
Tell your doctor about all medicines and supplements you take, especially other osteoporosis treatments such as bisphosphonates or denosumab, corticosteroids, chemotherapy, or medicines that block blood vessel growth. Using these with Evenity may increase the risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw, a serious condition involving damage to the jawbone. Review your calcium and vitamin D intake with your doctor. Low blood calcium must be corrected before treatment, and adequate calcium and vitamin D are needed during treatment.

Dosing

Storage
Store in the original carton to protect it from light. Check the pack for whether it must be refrigerated before first use. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
