About Diclegis
Overview
Diclegis is a prescription delayed-release tablet combining doxylamine succinate, an antihistamine, and pyridoxine hydrochloride, a vitamin B6 analog. It treats nausea and vomiting during pregnancy when conservative management has not helped. Exactly how it works is unknown. Diclegis has not been studied in women with hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

Safety information
Side effects
Sleepiness is the most common side effect of Diclegis. Taking Diclegis with alcohol or other medicines that slow central nervous system activity can lead to falls or other accidents. Contact your doctor if you experience a fall or accident. Combining Diclegis with these substances is not recommended. Avoid driving, operating heavy machinery or other activities requiring full alertness until your healthcare provider says it is safe to do so.
Before taking this medicine
Do not take Diclegis if you are allergic to doxylamine succinate, other ethanolamine-type antihistamines, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), or any inactive ingredient. Do not take it with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors, which can intensify and prolong its adverse effects on the central nervous system. Use with caution if you have increased pressure in the eye, narrow-angle glaucoma, a peptic ulcer that causes narrowing, a blockage at the stomach outlet or upper small intestine, or a blockage at the bladder neck. Use with alcohol or other medicines that depress the central nervous system is not recommended. Avoid driving, operating heavy machinery, or other activities requiring full alertness until a healthcare provider says you may do so.
Interactions
Do not take Diclegis if you are taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI). MAOIs can prolong and intensify the drying effects of antihistamines. Avoid alcohol and other medicines that cause sedation, including sleeping medicines and tranquilizers, while taking Diclegis. Combining them can cause severe drowsiness. Discuss any such medicines with your doctor.

Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, in the original pack, away from direct light and moisture. Do not keep it in a bathroom. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
