Urecholine

Before taking this medicine

Do not take Urecholine if you are allergic to bethanechol chloride tablets, or if you have an overactive thyroid, a peptic ulcer, asthma (whether active or latent), a markedly slow heartbeat, markedly low blood pressure, unstable control of blood vessel tone, coronary artery disease, epilepsy or parkinsonism. It must not be used if the stomach, bowel or bladder wall may be weak or damaged; if there is a physical blockage, including blockage at the bladder neck; or if a stomach or bowel blockage is suspected. It must also not be used when increased stomach, bowel or bladder contractions could be harmful, such as after recent bladder surgery or surgery to remove and reconnect part of the digestive tract. Other contraindications include spasmodic digestive tract disorders, acute inflammation or inflammatory lesions of the digestive tract, peritonitis (inflammation of the abdominal lining), and markedly increased vagus nerve activity.
