Before taking this medicine

Do not use Trelstar if you have a known allergy to triptorelin, any other ingredient in the product, GnRH or other GnRH agonists. Conditions requiring caution and monitoring include: • Risk of spinal cord compression or urinary tract blockage. Testosterone may rise temporarily during the first few weeks of treatment, which can worsen prostate cancer and lead to these complications. • Metabolic problems, including high blood sugar, diabetes, high blood fats and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. GnRH agonists may increase these risks. • Cardiovascular disease. An increased risk of heart attack, sudden cardiac death and stroke has been reported in men. • Seizures, which have occurred with or without predisposing risk factors. • Risk of a prolonged QT interval, a change in the heart’s electrical activity. The risks and benefits of treatment should be considered. Severe allergic reactions, including anaphylactic shock and angioedema, have been reported. If a reaction occurs, Trelstar must be stopped and appropriate medical care started. Treatment must be interrupted if signs of a severe skin reaction develop and permanently stopped if the reaction is confirmed. Trelstar may harm an unborn baby and may impair fertility.
