About Travatan
Overview
Travatan contains travoprost, a prostaglandin analog, and is supplied as eye drops. It is used to lower raised pressure inside the eye in people with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. It is believed to work by increasing the drainage of fluid from the eye, although the exact mechanism is not known.
What it treats
- Elevated pressure inside the eye in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
Safety information
Side effects
Eye redness is the most common side effect, reported in 30% to 50% of patients. Eyelashes may gradually become longer, thicker or more numerous; these changes are usually reversible. Contact your doctor if you notice colour changes in the iris (the coloured part of the eye), eyelids or eyelashes. Changes in iris colour are likely to be permanent.

Dosing
Dosing is set by your prescriber. Each health care professional may prescribe medication differently according to a patient's medical history and condition, so follow the directions on your prescription label and speak to your doctor or pharmacist before changing anything.
Storage
Store below 25°C away from direct light. Once opened, follow the in-use period printed on the pack and do not let the dropper touch the eye or any surface. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
