About Syfovre

Overview

Syfovre contains pegcetacoplan, a medicine called a complement inhibitor. It is used to treat geographic atrophy (GA) caused by age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It works by binding to the complement protein C3 and its fragment C3b, helping regulate the activation of the complement system.

Side effects

Common side effects include eye discomfort, neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration, floaters in your vision, and bleeding under the clear surface covering the white of the eye. Serious risks include infection inside the eye or around it, retinal detachment, inflammation or blockage of retinal blood vessels, inflammation inside the eye, increased eye pressure, and allergic reactions. Contact your doctor promptly if you suspect any of these problems.

When to call your doctor

- Seek medical attention immediately for eye discomfort. - Seek medical attention immediately for floating spots in your vision (floaters). - Seek medical attention immediately for bleeding on the surface of your eye.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.

Before taking this medicine

Syfovre must not be used if you have an infection in or around the eye, active inflammation inside the eye, or hypersensitivity (an allergy) to the medicine. Warnings include endophthalmitis (an infection inside the eye), retinal detachment, inflammation or blockage of retinal blood vessels, neovascular (“wet”) age-related macular degeneration (AMD), inflammation inside the eye, and increased pressure inside the eye.

Dosing

Storage
