About Tepmetko
Overview
Tepmetko contains tepotinib, a kinase inhibitor supplied as tablets. It is used to treat adults with non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to other parts of the body and has a specific genetic change called MET exon 14 skipping. It works by blocking MET activity and the signals it sends that help MET-dependent cancer cells grow.
What it treats
Metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in adults whose cancer has MET exon 14 skipping alterations.
Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects of Tepmetko include swelling, nausea, tiredness, muscle and joint pain, diarrhea, shortness of breath, reduced appetite and rash. Serious side effects include inflammation of the lungs, liver damage and pancreatic toxicity. Contact your doctor immediately if you develop new or worsening breathing problems. Suspected lung inflammation requires treatment to be withheld; confirmed lung inflammation requires treatment to be stopped permanently. Your doctor will monitor blood tests for liver function and pancreatic enzymes. Depending on the severity of any problems, treatment may need to be paused, reduced or stopped permanently. Severe blood test abnormalities can include low lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell), albumin, sodium or hemoglobin, and raised liver or pancreatic enzymes. Tepmetko can harm an unborn baby. Use effective contraception and contact your doctor if you become pregnant during treatment.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
The FDA label lists no formal contraindications for Tepmetko. However, it includes warnings about lung inflammation (interstitial lung disease/pneumonitis), liver toxicity and pancreatic toxicity. If lung inflammation is suspected, treatment must be withheld immediately; if confirmed, treatment must be stopped permanently. Liver function and pancreatic enzyme levels (amylase and lipase) should be monitored. Liver or pancreatic toxicity may require treatment interruption, dose reduction or permanent discontinuation, depending on severity. Tepmetko can harm an unborn baby. Effective contraception is advised. Do not breastfeed during treatment.
Interactions
Tepmetko should not be taken with certain medicines transported by P-glycoprotein (P-gp), where even small changes in their concentration may cause serious or life-threatening toxicity. Ask your doctor whether any of your medicines fall into this group.

Storage
