About Tabrecta
Overview
Tabrecta is a prescription medicine containing capmatinib, a kinase inhibitor. It treats adults with non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to other parts of the body and has a mutation that causes MET exon 14 skipping, detected by an FDA-approved test. It works by blocking MET, a protein involved in signals that help certain cancer cells grow and survive.
What it treats
Metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in adults whose tumors have a mutation that causes MET exon 14 skipping, confirmed by an FDA-approved test.
Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects of Tabrecta include swelling, nausea, muscle and bone pain, tiredness, vomiting, shortness of breath, cough and reduced appetite. Serious side effects include lung inflammation (interstitial lung disease or pneumonitis), liver damage, pancreatic toxicity and hypersensitivity reactions. Contact your doctor promptly if you develop new or worsening breathing symptoms or a suspected allergic reaction. Your doctor will monitor liver function and pancreatic enzyme levels. Serious reactions may require treatment to be paused, changed or permanently stopped. Tabrecta may also cause sensitivity to sunlight. Limit direct exposure to ultraviolet light. It can harm an unborn baby; use effective contraception and contact your doctor if you become pregnant.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Interactions
Avoid taking Tabrecta with medicines that strongly or moderately increase the activity of the enzyme CYP3A (called CYP3A inducers). Ask your doctor whether any medicines you take fall into this group.

Storage
