Steglatro

Before taking this medicine

Do not take Steglatro if you are allergic to ertugliflozin or any of its ingredients. Allergic reactions have included angioedema (swelling beneath the skin). Conditions requiring caution include: - Type 1 diabetes or other risk factors for ketoacidosis. Ketoacidosis must be considered regardless of blood glucose levels. Stop Steglatro if ketoacidosis is suspected; it should not be restarted until the condition has resolved. - Lower-limb infections or ulcers, which require monitoring and treatment because of the risk of amputation. - Kidney impairment, low blood pressure, older age or use of diuretics. Steglatro can cause fluid loss, which may lead to acute kidney injury. Fluid status should be assessed and corrected before treatment and monitored during use. - Urinary or genital infections, including serious infections that need prompt treatment. Seek immediate medical assessment for pain, tenderness, redness or swelling around the genitals or the area between the genitals and anus, together with fever or feeling unwell. These may indicate a serious infection called Fournier’s gangrene. - Use of insulin or medicines that stimulate insulin release, which increases the risk of low blood sugar. Your prescriber may need to adjust these medicines. Steglatro may harm a fetus, particularly during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.
