About Sarclisa
Overview
Sarclisa (isatuximab-irfc) is a prescription monoclonal antibody used with other medicines to treat multiple myeloma in adults. It is used with pomalidomide and dexamethasone after at least two previous therapies, including lenalidomide and a proteasome inhibitor, or with carfilzomib and dexamethasone after one to three previous treatment regimens when the disease has returned or resisted treatment. It is also used with bortezomib, lenalidomide and dexamethasone for newly diagnosed adults who are not eligible for a transplant using their own stem cells. Sarclisa binds to a protein called CD38 on myeloma cells, triggering cancer cell death and activating immune responses against these cells.
What it treats
- Multiple myeloma in adults who have received at least two previous therapies, including lenalidomide and a proteasome inhibitor, used with pomalidomide and dexamethasone. - Multiple myeloma in adults whose disease has returned or has not responded to treatment after one to three previous lines of therapy, used with carfilzomib and dexamethasone. - Newly diagnosed multiple myeloma in adults who are not eligible for an autologous stem cell transplant, used with bortezomib, lenalidomide and dexamethasone.

Side effects
Common side effects vary depending on the medicines used with Sarclisa: • With pomalidomide and dexamethasone: upper respiratory tract infections, infusion-related reactions, pneumonia and diarrhea. • With carfilzomib and dexamethasone: upper respiratory tract infections, infusion-related reactions, tiredness, high blood pressure, diarrhea, pneumonia, shortness of breath, difficulty sleeping, bronchitis, cough and back pain. • With bortezomib, lenalidomide and dexamethasone: upper respiratory tract infections, diarrhea, tiredness, sensory nerve problems, pneumonia, muscle and bone pain, cataracts, constipation, swelling in the limbs, rash, infusion-related reactions, difficulty sleeping and COVID-19. Blood tests commonly show reduced hemoglobin, which carries oxygen in the blood, and reduced levels of platelets and certain white blood cells. The types of blood cells affected vary with the treatment combination. Contact a doctor promptly for signs of infection or a reaction during an infusion. Sarclisa can cause serious and fatal infections. Infusion-related reactions can be severe and may include anaphylaxis, a serious allergic reaction requiring immediate medical attention. Sarclisa can reduce neutrophils, a type of white blood cell that helps fight infection. Blood counts need monitoring during treatment. New, separate cancers have also been reported and require monitoring. Sarclisa can harm an unborn baby; contact your doctor if you become pregnant during treatment.

Before taking this medicine
Do not use Sarclisa if you have a severe allergy to isatuximab-irfc or any of its other ingredients. Sarclisa can cause infusion-related reactions, including anaphylaxis, and serious or fatal infections. It can also lower neutrophil counts, a type of white blood cell. Blood counts and signs of infection should be monitored during treatment. Monitoring for new, separate cancers is also required. Sarclisa can interfere with blood compatibility testing and tests used to monitor M-protein and assess treatment response. Blood typing and screening should be done before treatment, and the blood bank must be told that you have received Sarclisa. Sarclisa can harm an unborn baby. Tell your healthcare team if you are pregnant. Do not breastfeed during treatment.

Storage
Store in the original carton below 25°C, protected from light, unless the pack states refrigeration. Do not freeze. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
