Prezcobix

Before taking this medicine

Do not take Prezcobix with alfuzosin; carbamazepine, phenobarbital or phenytoin; rifampin; lurasidone or pimozide; dronedarone, ivabradine or ranolazine; ergot medicines such as dihydroergotamine, ergotamine or methylergonovine; St. John’s wort; elbasvir/grazoprevir; lomitapide, lovastatin or simvastatin; naloxegol; oral midazolam or triazolam; or sildenafil used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension. Do not take it with colchicine if you have kidney or liver impairment. These combinations may cause serious or life-threatening effects or reduce treatment effectiveness. Other medicines may also be unsuitable, so your prescriber should review all medicines and herbal products you use. Prezcobix is not recommended during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or for children younger than 3 years or weighing less than 15 kg. It is also not recommended with other antiretroviral medicines that require pharmacokinetic boosting. Tell your prescriber if you have liver disease, including chronic hepatitis or cirrhosis, raised liver enzymes, a sulfonamide allergy, diabetes or hemophilia. Serious liver injury, including fatal cases, can occur; liver function should be checked before and during treatment. New or worsening diabetes, high blood sugar and increased bleeding in people with hemophilia may occur. Acute kidney failure and Fanconi syndrome have been reported when Prezcobix is used with a regimen containing tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF). Severe skin reactions can occur and require treatment to be stopped. Changes in body fat and immune reconstitution syndrome, in which the recovering immune system causes an inflammatory response, may also occur.
