About Pred Forte
Overview
Pred Forte is a sterile eye drop suspension containing prednisolone acetate. It treats steroid-responsive inflammation affecting the lining of the eyelids, the covering of the white of the eye, the cornea and the front part of the eye. It works by reducing inflammation in these tissues.
What it treats
Steroid-responsive inflammation of the lining of the eyelids and the white of the eye (conjunctiva), the cornea, and the front part of the eye.
Safety information
Side effects
Reported side effects include brief burning or stinging when the drops are applied, eye irritation, a feeling that something is in the eye, altered taste, headache, itching, rash, hives and blurred vision. The frequency of these effects cannot be reliably estimated from the reports available. Serious reported effects include increased pressure inside the eye, which may lead to glaucoma and optic nerve damage; cataracts; delayed wound healing; and bacterial, fungal or viral eye infections. Fungal and viral infections of the cornea may develop with long-term steroid use. Other reported effects include eye pain, inflammation of the cornea or the lining of the eye, corneal ulcers, eye redness, widened pupils, difficulty focusing and drooping eyelids. Inflammation inside the front of the eye and perforation of the eyeball have also been reported with corticosteroid eye medicines. Contact a doctor if you experience eye pain, blurred vision or other vision changes, or signs of an eye infection or allergic reaction.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
Do not use Pred Forte if you have: - An acute, untreated eye infection with pus. - Most viral infections of the cornea or conjunctiva, including epithelial herpes simplex keratitis (dendritic keratitis), vaccinia or varicella. - A mycobacterial or fungal infection of the eye. - A known or suspected allergy to any ingredient in Pred Forte or to other corticosteroids.
Using Pred Forte
Dosing
Dosing is set by your prescriber. Each health care professional may prescribe medication differently according to a patient's medical history and condition, so follow the directions on your prescription label and speak to your doctor or pharmacist before changing anything.
Storage
Store below 25°C away from direct light. Once opened, follow the in-use period printed on the pack and do not let the dropper touch the eye or any surface. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
