About Orgovyx
Overview
Orgovyx is a prescription medicine containing relugolix, supplied as film-coated tablets. It is used to treat adults with advanced prostate cancer. It works by blocking GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland, reducing the release of hormones that stimulate testosterone production and lowering testosterone levels.
What it treats
Advanced prostate cancer in adults.
Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects include hot flushes, muscle and bone pain, tiredness, constipation and diarrhoea. Common blood test changes include increased blood sugar, triglycerides and liver enzymes (ALT and AST), and decreased haemoglobin. Serious risks include QT interval prolongation, a change in the heart’s electrical activity, and allergic reactions, including angioedema (swelling). Contact a doctor immediately if you experience symptoms of an allergic reaction. Orgovyx should be withheld if allergic symptoms occur and discontinued for a severe reaction, with medical guidance. Contact your doctor about concerns relating to heart rhythm changes.

Before taking this medicine
Do not take Orgovyx if you have a known severe allergy to relugolix or any of its ingredients. Orgovyx requires caution because androgen deprivation therapy may prolong the QT interval, affecting the heart’s electrical activity. It can also cause allergic reactions, including angioedema (swelling beneath the skin). If symptoms of an allergic reaction occur, stop taking Orgovyx and seek medical advice. Severe allergic reactions require discontinuation. Orgovyx can harm an unborn baby. Men with female partners who could become pregnant should use effective contraception.
Interactions
Avoid taking Orgovyx with P-glycoprotein (P-gp) inhibitors or medicines that both induce P-gp and strongly induce CYP3A. Ask your doctor whether any medicines you take fall into these groups. If a P-gp inhibitor cannot be avoided, your prescriber will advise on separating the medicines and arrange more frequent monitoring for side effects. If a combined P-gp and strong CYP3A inducer cannot be avoided, your prescriber will need to adjust your Orgovyx dose.

Dosing
Dosing is set by your prescriber. Each health care professional may prescribe medication differently according to a patient's medical history and condition, so follow the directions on your prescription label and speak to your doctor or pharmacist before changing anything.
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, in the original pack, away from direct light and moisture. Do not keep it in a bathroom. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
