About Nurtec
Overview
Nurtec contains rimegepant, a medicine for adults with migraine. It is used to treat migraine attacks with or without aura and to prevent episodic migraine. It works by blocking receptors for calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP).
What it treats
- Acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. - Preventive treatment of episodic migraine in adults.
Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects include nausea. Stomach pain and indigestion are also reported when Nurtec is used to prevent episodic migraine. Serious allergic reactions can occur, including anaphylaxis, difficulty breathing and rash. These reactions may occur days after taking Nurtec. Stop taking Nurtec and seek urgent medical help if you have a serious allergic reaction. New or worsening high blood pressure and Raynaud’s phenomenon may also occur. Contact your doctor if either develops or gets worse.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
Do not take Nurtec if you have previously had an allergic reaction to rimegepant, Nurtec, or any of its ingredients. Avoid use if you have severe liver impairment (Child-Pugh C). Serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, difficulty breathing and rash, can occur days after taking Nurtec. Stop taking it and seek urgent medical help if a serious allergic reaction occurs. Nurtec may cause new or worsening high blood pressure or Raynaud’s phenomenon. Tell your prescriber if you have either condition.
Interactions
Nurtec should not be taken with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors or strong or moderate CYP3A inducers. Moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors and potent P-gp inhibitors also require changes to the timing of repeat doses, which your prescriber should direct. Ask your doctor to check whether any medicines you take fall into these groups.

Dosing
Dosing is set by your prescriber. Each health care professional may prescribe medication differently according to a patient's medical history and condition, so follow the directions on your prescription label and speak to your doctor or pharmacist before changing anything.
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, in the original pack, away from direct light and moisture. Do not keep it in a bathroom. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
