Ninlaro

Before taking this medicine

The FDA label lists no contraindications for Ninlaro. However, it requires caution and monitoring in people with low platelet counts, severe diarrhea, constipation, nausea or vomiting, peripheral neuropathy, fluid retention, rash or liver problems. Platelet counts should be checked at least monthly, and liver enzymes should be monitored during treatment. People with moderate or severe liver impairment, severe kidney impairment or end-stage kidney disease requiring dialysis need a prescriber-adjusted dose. Ninlaro can cause harm to an unborn baby. Patients should use effective non-hormonal contraception and should not breastfeed during treatment. Treatment must be stopped if thrombotic microangiopathy is suspected. Because of an increased risk of death, Ninlaro is not recommended as maintenance treatment for multiple myeloma outside controlled trials.
