MYLERAN can induce severe bone marrow hypoplasia. Reduce or discontinue the dosage immediately at the first sign of any unusual depression of bone marrow function as reflected by an abnormal decrease in any of the formed elements of the blood. A bone marrow examination should be performed if the bone marrow status is uncertain.
About Myleran
Overview
Myleran is a prescription tablet containing busulfan. It is used for palliative treatment of chronic myelogenous leukemia, meaning treatment aimed at relief rather than cure. Busulfan is an alkylating agent, which works through a chemical process called alkylation.

Before taking this medicine
Do not take Myleran if a diagnosis of chronic myelogenous leukemia has not been firmly established, or if you have previously had an allergic reaction to busulfan or any other ingredient in Myleran.
Interactions
Myleran (busulfan) may interact with: • Other medicines that suppress bone marrow: combined use may further reduce blood cell production. • Thioguanine: long-term continuous use with busulfan has been associated with liver problems, increased pressure in the vein supplying the liver, and enlarged veins in the oesophagus. • Other cytotoxic medicines: harmful effects on the lungs may add to those caused by busulfan. • Itraconazole: systemic treatment may slow the removal of busulfan from the body in patients receiving high-dose Myleran. Monitoring for signs of busulfan toxicity is needed when these medicines are used together. Tell your doctor if you take any of these medicines.

Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, in the original pack, away from direct light and moisture. Do not keep it in a bathroom. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
