Before taking this medicine

Do not use Lyumjev during an episode of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), or if you are allergic to insulin lispro-aabc or any of its ingredients. Low blood sugar can be life-threatening. More frequent blood glucose checks may be needed if you have kidney or liver problems, do not recognise the warning signs of low blood sugar, or have changes to your insulin treatment, other glucose-lowering medicines, meals or physical activity. Changes to your insulin regimen should be made under close medical supervision. Use with caution if you are at risk of low potassium, which can be life-threatening; potassium monitoring may be needed. Taking Lyumjev with thiazolidinediones (TZDs) can cause fluid retention and heart failure, so monitoring for signs of heart failure is needed. Severe allergic reactions, including life-threatening anaphylaxis, can occur. Stop using Lyumjev and seek urgent medical help if a severe allergic reaction occurs. Never share a Lyumjev pen, even if the needle is changed. Check the insulin label before each injection to avoid mix-ups. If using an insulin pump, pump malfunction can cause high blood sugar and ketoacidosis; check blood glucose and use Lyumjev by injection under the skin if the pump fails.
