About Luxturna
Overview
Luxturna (voretigene neparvovec-rzyl) is a gene therapy for a retinal disorder called retinal dystrophy linked to confirmed mutations in both copies of the RPE65 gene. Patients must have living retinal cells, as determined by their treating doctor. It is designed to deliver a normal copy of the RPE65 gene to retinal cells to help support the process that converts light into signals needed for vision.
What it treats
Retinal dystrophy associated with confirmed mutations in both copies of the RPE65 gene, in patients with viable retinal cells as determined by the treating physician.
Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects include eye redness, cataracts, increased pressure inside the eye, retinal tears, thinning of the cornea, a hole in the macula (the central part of the retina), deposits beneath the retina, eye inflammation, irritation or pain, and wrinkling on the surface of the macula. Contact your doctor promptly if you notice changes in vision or signs of an eye infection. Serious risks include infection inside the eye, permanent loss of visual sharpness, retinal tears or breaks, damage to the macula, thinning or loss of retinal tissue and the layer beneath it, increased eye pressure, and new or worsening cataracts. Air travel and scuba diving are not recommended until any air bubbles inside the eye have been absorbed, because these bubbles can expand.

Dosing

Storage
Store in the original carton below 25°C, protected from light, unless the pack states refrigeration. Do not freeze. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
