About Lodine,Lodine XL

Overview

Etodolac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). These tablets are used for short-term and long-term management of the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. They are also used to manage acute pain.

Side effects

Commonly reported side effects include stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, gas, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, itching, rash and ringing in the ears. Contact a doctor if you experience serious side effects, including stomach or intestinal ulcers, bleeding or perforation (a hole in the stomach or intestinal wall). Other reported effects that need medical attention include abnormal kidney function, anemia, swelling from fluid buildup, raised liver enzymes and blood taking longer to clot. Some of these effects may be detected through blood tests.

Before taking this medicine

Do not take etodolac if you have a known allergy to it, or if you have had asthma, hives or another allergic-type reaction after taking aspirin or another nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Severe allergic reactions, rarely fatal, have been reported in these patients. Etodolac must not be used in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.
