About Izervay

Overview

Izervay contains avacincaptad pegol and is supplied in a single-dose vial for injection into the eye. It is used to treat geographic atrophy secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It works by blocking a protein called complement C5, which may reduce the formation of a complex called the membrane attack complex.

Safety information

Side effects

Common side effects include bleeding on the surface of the eye, increased pressure inside the eye, blurred vision, wet age-related macular degeneration, inflammation affecting small areas of the cornea (the clear front surface of the eye), and eye pain. Serious risks include infections in or around the eye, including infection inside the eye (endophthalmitis), inflammation inside the eye, retinal detachment, wet age-related macular degeneration, and increased eye pressure. Contact a doctor promptly if you experience or suspect any of these serious problems.

When to call your doctor

• Eye pain, seek medical attention immediately. • Blurred vision, seek medical attention immediately.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.

Before taking this medicine

Izervay must not be used if you have an infection in or around the eye, or active inflammation inside the eye. Warnings include endophthalmitis (a serious infection inside the eye), retinal detachment, neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and increased pressure inside the eye.

Storage
