Before taking this medicine

Do not use BESREMi if you: • Have or have had a severe psychiatric disorder, particularly severe depression, suicidal thoughts or a suicide attempt. • Are allergic to interferons, including interferon alfa-2b, or any ingredient in BESREMi. • Have moderate or severe liver impairment (Child-Pugh B or C). • Have or have had active serious or untreated autoimmune disease. • Are a transplant recipient receiving treatment that suppresses the immune system. BESREMi should also be avoided in people with severe or unstable cardiovascular disease or severe kidney impairment (eGFR below 30 mL/min). People with a history of cardiovascular disease need closer monitoring. Treatment requires monitoring for depression and suicidal thoughts, endocrine disorders, blood cell abnormalities and bleeding, allergic reactions, pancreatitis, colitis, lung problems, eye disorders, raised triglycerides, and liver or kidney damage. Some of these problems may require treatment to be stopped. Significant skin problems may also require stopping treatment. Good oral hygiene and regular dental examinations are advised. BESREMi can harm an unborn baby. People who could become pregnant should use effective contraception. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment. Do not drive or use machinery if you experience dizziness, sleepiness or hallucinations.
