About Verquvo

Overview

Verquvo contains vericiguat and is available as a film-coated tablet. It is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospital admission for heart failure in adults with symptomatic chronic heart failure and an ejection fraction below 45%, following a heart failure hospital stay or the need for outpatient intravenous diuretics. It works by stimulating an enzyme called soluble guanylate cyclase, increasing a chemical signal that helps blood vessels relax and widen.

What it treats

Verquvo is used in adults with symptomatic chronic heart failure and an ejection fraction below 45%, following a hospital stay for heart failure or treatment with outpatient intravenous diuretics. It is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalisation for heart failure.

Side effects

The most common side effects are low blood pressure (hypotension) and anemia, each reported in at least 5% of patients.

When to call your doctor

- Contact your doctor immediately if you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant. Verquvo must not be used during pregnancy because it may harm the unborn baby.

Before taking this medicine

Do not take Verquvo (vericiguat) if you are pregnant or are taking another soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) stimulator. Breastfeeding is not recommended while taking Verquvo.

Interactions

Using Verquvo with PDE-5 inhibitors is not recommended. Tell your doctor if you take a medicine in this class.
