Before taking this medicine

Do not take Sotyktu if you have had an allergic reaction to deucravacitinib or any of its other ingredients. Stop taking it if a significant allergic reaction occurs, including swelling beneath the skin (angioedema). Sotyktu should be avoided if you have an active or serious infection. If a serious infection develops during treatment, stop taking it until the infection resolves. You should be checked for active or latent tuberculosis (TB) before starting treatment. Sotyktu is not recommended for people with severe liver impairment. If you have known or suspected liver disease, liver enzymes should be checked before and during treatment. Blood triglyceride levels should also be checked periodically. Tell your prescriber if you have cancer, as the benefits and risks need to be considered before starting or continuing treatment. Cancers, including lymphoma, were observed in clinical trials. Sotyktu must be stopped if muscle disease is suspected or diagnosed, or if blood levels of the muscle enzyme CPK become markedly elevated. Severe muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis) has been reported. Avoid live vaccines during treatment. It is not known whether Sotyktu’s inhibition of TYK2 carries the risks seen with JAK inhibitors. In people with rheumatoid arthritis, a JAK inhibitor was associated with higher rates of death, serious cardiovascular events, blood clots and certain cancers than TNF blockers. Sotyktu is not approved for rheumatoid arthritis. Low blood sugar, including severe episodes, has been reported after starting JAK inhibitors; if you have diabetes, tell your healthcare provider if you develop signs or symptoms of low blood sugar.
