About Prudac
Overview
Prudac is a prescription tablet containing prucalopride as succinate. It is used to treat chronic idiopathic constipation in adults, meaning long-term constipation with no known cause. It works by activating serotonin-4 receptors in the gut, stimulating contractions in the colon that help move bowel contents along.

Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects include headache, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, bloating, dizziness, vomiting, gas and fatigue. Serious concerns include new or worsening depression, thoughts of self-harm, and suicidal thoughts or behavior. Stop taking Prudac immediately and contact your healthcare provider if you notice unusual changes in mood or behavior, develop new or worsening depression, or have thoughts of self-harm or suicide.
When to call your doctor
If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
Do not take Prudac if you have: • A history of an allergic reaction to prucalopride tablets. Reported reactions include difficulty breathing, rash, itching, hives and facial swelling. • A hole or blockage in the intestine caused by a structural or functional problem in the gut wall, including obstructive ileus. • Severe inflammatory conditions of the intestine, such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, or toxic megacolon or megarectum. Watch for new or worsening depression, thoughts of self-harm, or suicidal thoughts or behaviour during treatment. Stop taking Prudac immediately and contact your healthcare provider if you develop unusual changes in mood or behaviour, or suicidal thoughts or behaviour.

Dosing
Dosing is set by your prescriber. Each health care professional may prescribe medication differently according to a patient's medical history and condition, so follow the directions on your prescription label and speak to your doctor or pharmacist before changing anything.
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, in the original pack, away from direct light and moisture. Do not keep it in a bathroom. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
