Plenvu

Before taking this medicine

Do not take Plenvu if you have a blockage in the stomach or bowel, a hole in the bowel wall (perforation), stomach contents that are not emptying properly (gastric retention), a bowel that is not moving normally (ileus), toxic megacolon, or an allergy to any ingredient. Suspected blockage or perforation must be ruled out before use. Tell your prescriber if you have kidney problems, a history of seizures or an increased seizure risk, a risk of abnormal heart rhythms, known or suspected inflammatory bowel disease, difficulty swallowing or a risk of breathing liquid into your lungs, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, or phenylketonuria. Plenvu contains phenylalanine. Plenvu can cause fluid and electrolyte imbalances. Adequate hydration is important. Your prescriber should review your other medicines, particularly those that affect kidney function or increase seizure risk, and may consider blood tests or heart monitoring. People at risk of breathing liquid into their lungs should be observed during use. Seek immediate medical care if symptoms of an allergic reaction occur, as serious reactions, including anaphylaxis, are possible.
