About Nitrolingual , Nitro Patch
Overview
Nitrolingual is a nitroglycerin spray used on or under the tongue. It is used to relieve an angina attack (chest pain) or help prevent angina due to coronary artery disease. It works by relaxing the muscles in blood vessel walls, allowing arteries and veins to widen.
What it treats
- Relief or prevention of angina attacks (chest pain) due to coronary artery disease.
Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects of Nitrolingual spray include headache, dizziness and tingling or prickling sensations. Severely low blood pressure can occur and warrants contacting a doctor. Excessive use may lead to tolerance, meaning the medicine may become less effective.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
Do not use Nitrolingual spray if you take a PDE-5 inhibitor such as avanafil, sildenafil, tadalafil or vardenafil, or the soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) stimulator riociguat. Do not use it if you have severe anemia, increased pressure inside the skull, or an allergy to Nitrolingual, other nitrates or nitrites, or any of its ingredients. Nitrolingual spray can cause severely low blood pressure. Excessive use may lead to tolerance, meaning it may become less effective. The supplied label covers Nitrolingual spray only; it does not provide contraindication or caution information for Nitro Patch.
Interactions
Blood pressure medicines may increase the blood-pressure-lowering effects of Nitrolingual spray when used together. Tell your doctor if you take any medicines for high blood pressure. Avoid using Nitrolingual spray with ergotamine, as it can increase the amount of ergotamine available in the body.

Storage
