Before taking this medicine

Do not take MoviPrep if you have a blockage or hole in the stomach or bowel, gastric retention (when stomach contents are not emptied properly), ileus (when the bowel stops moving normally), toxic colitis or toxic megacolon, or an allergy to any ingredient. A suspected blockage or hole must be ruled out before use. Tell your prescriber before use if you have: • Kidney problems, dehydration, low blood sodium or other disturbances in blood salts (electrolytes). • Heart rhythm problems, prolonged QT, a recent heart attack, unstable angina, heart failure or cardiomyopathy. • A history of seizures, or an increased seizure risk, including withdrawal from alcohol or benzodiazepines. • Severe ulcerative colitis or known or suspected inflammatory bowel disease. • Difficulty swallowing or an impaired gag reflex, which can increase the risk of choking or liquid entering the lungs. Monitoring during use is needed. • Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, especially with an active infection, previous breakdown of red blood cells, or medicines that can trigger this. • Phenylketonuria (PKU): MoviPrep contains phenylalanine, which can be harmful in PKU. Your prescriber should review medicines that affect kidney function, blood salts or seizure risk, including diuretics, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and tricyclic antidepressants. Using stimulant laxatives with MoviPrep is not recommended because it may increase the risk of bowel ulcers or inflammation caused by reduced blood flow. Do not combine MoviPrep with starch-based thickeners. Fluid and electrolyte problems should be corrected before treatment. Adequate hydration before, during and after use is important; blood tests or heart monitoring may be needed in people at increased risk. Seek immediate medical care if symptoms of an allergic reaction occur.
