Overview
Mirvaso is a prescription topical gel containing brimonidine tartrate. It is used to treat persistent facial redness caused by rosacea in adults aged 18 years and older. It may reduce redness by narrowing blood vessels in the skin.

Side effects
Common side effects include skin redness, flushing, a burning sensation on the skin, and contact dermatitis (skin inflammation). The label also warns about allergic reactions, worsening poor circulation, effects throughout the body, and local blood vessel reactions. Contact a doctor if you suspect any of these reactions. People with severe heart or blood vessel disease should discuss these risks with their doctor. Swallowing the gel can cause serious adverse reactions. Seek urgent medical attention if this happens.

Before taking this medicine
Do not use Mirvaso if you have had an allergic reaction to brimonidine tartrate or any other ingredient. Reported allergic reactions include angioedema (swelling beneath the skin), hives and contact dermatitis. Use requires caution if you have poor blood circulation or severe heart or blood vessel disease. Mirvaso may worsen poor circulation. The label also warns of serious adverse reactions if the gel is swallowed.
