About Leqvio
Overview
Leqvio (inclisiran) is a prescription medicine supplied in a pre-filled syringe for injection under the skin. It is used alongside diet and exercise to lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol in adults with high cholesterol, including adults with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH). It is also used in children aged 12 years and older with HeFH or homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH), inherited conditions that cause high cholesterol. It works by reducing production of a protein called PCSK9 in the liver, helping liver cells remove more LDL cholesterol from the blood.
What it treats
- High cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) in adults. - Heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH) in adults and children aged 12 years and older. - Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) in children aged 12 years and older. Used alongside diet and exercise to reduce LDL cholesterol.
Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects reported in clinical trials included injection-site reactions, joint pain and bronchitis. Each occurred in at least 3% of patients. Hypersensitivity (allergic) reactions have also been reported. Contact a doctor if you suspect an allergic reaction.
Before taking this medicine
Do not use Leqvio if you have previously had a serious allergic reaction to inclisiran or any of its other ingredients. Serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis and angioedema, have been reported. Seek medical attention promptly if you develop signs or symptoms of an allergic reaction.

Dosing

Storage
