Invega Trinza

Before taking this medicine

Do not use Invega Trinza if you are allergic to paliperidone, risperidone or any of its other ingredients. Severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis and swelling beneath the skin (angioedema), have been reported. Invega Trinza is not approved for dementia-related psychosis. The label warns of an increased risk of stroke and similar events, including fatal events, in older people with this condition. Avoid use with medicines that prolong the QT interval (a change in the heart’s electrical rhythm), or if you have risk factors for QT prolongation. Tell your prescriber if you have heart or blood vessel disease, a tendency towards low blood pressure or fainting, seizures, or conditions that increase seizure risk. Caution and monitoring are needed if you have diabetes or risk factors for diabetes, or a history of significantly low white blood cell counts or medicine-related reductions in these cells. Treatment may increase blood sugar, blood fats, weight and prolactin levels. Other serious risks include neuroleptic malignant syndrome and tardive dyskinesia, an involuntary movement disorder. Neuroleptic malignant syndrome requires immediate discontinuation and close medical monitoring; tardive dyskinesia may require treatment to be stopped by your prescriber. Use caution when operating machinery because treatment may impair thinking and movement. Tell your prescriber if you are pregnant. Exposure during the third trimester may cause movement-related or withdrawal symptoms in the newborn.
