About Ibsrela
Overview
Ibsrela is a prescription tablet containing tenapanor. It is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) in adults. It works in the intestines by reducing sodium absorption, which increases water in the bowel to soften stools and help them move through more quickly.

Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects include diarrhea, abdominal bloating, gas and dizziness. Diarrhea can be severe. If severe diarrhea occurs, stop taking Ibsrela, contact your doctor and replace lost fluids.

Before taking this medicine
Do not take Ibsrela if you have a known or suspected physical blockage in the stomach or intestines. It must not be used in children under 6 years of age because of the risk of serious dehydration. Ibsrela can cause severe diarrhea. If this occurs, stop taking it and seek medical advice to replace lost fluids.
Interactions
Ibsrela may reduce the amount of certain medicines absorbed into the body, including enalapril, making them less effective. Tell your doctor if you take enalapril or other medicines transported by OATP2B1. Your doctor may monitor how well these medicines are working and adjust them if needed.
