About HAVRIX
Overview
HAVRIX is a vaccine containing inactivated hepatitis A virus (strain HM175). It is used to help prevent disease caused by the hepatitis A virus. It works by stimulating antibodies against the virus, which help protect against hepatitis A infection.
What it treats
Prevention of disease caused by hepatitis A virus in people aged 12 months and older.
Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects include injection-site soreness and headache. In young children, commonly reported effects include injection-site pain and redness, irritability, drowsiness and loss of appetite. Fainting can occur with HAVRIX vaccination. Tell a healthcare professional if fainting occurs, as precautions are needed to prevent injury.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
HAVRIX must not be given to anyone who has had a severe allergic reaction, such as anaphylaxis, after a previous hepatitis A-containing vaccine or to any ingredient in HAVRIX, including neomycin. Fainting can occur with injectable vaccines, including HAVRIX. Precautions should be in place to prevent injury from fainting.

Storage
Store in the original carton below 25°C, protected from light, unless the pack states refrigeration. Do not freeze. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
