About Dovonex
Overview
Dovonex contains calcipotriene, a synthetic derivative of vitamin D3. It is applied to the skin to treat chronic, moderately severe psoriasis of the scalp. Its safety and effectiveness for skin conditions other than psoriasis have not been established.

Safety information
Side effects
The most commonly reported side effects were temporary burning, stinging and tingling, followed by rash. Dry skin, irritation and worsening of psoriasis were also reported. Other possible effects include high blood calcium, skin thinning, darkening of the skin and inflammation of hair follicles. These were not observed in the clinical studies, but could not be ruled out. Contact your doctor if these occur or if your psoriasis worsens.
Before taking this medicine
Do not use Dovonex if you have an acute psoriasis flare, a history of an allergic reaction to any of its ingredients, high blood calcium levels, or signs of vitamin D toxicity.

Dosing
Dosing is set by your prescriber. Each health care professional may prescribe medication differently according to a patient's medical history and condition, so follow the directions on your prescription label and speak to your doctor or pharmacist before changing anything.
Storage
Store below 25°C with the cap closed, away from direct light and heat. Do not freeze. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
