About Diprolene
Overview
Diprolene contains betamethasone dipropionate, a corticosteroid used on the skin. It is used to relieve inflammation and itching from skin conditions that respond to corticosteroids in people aged 13 years and older. Corticosteroids affect cell signals involved in inflammation and immune function, although the exact way Diprolene works in these skin conditions is unknown.

Side effects
Commonly reported side effects include skin redness, inflammation around hair follicles, itching and blistering. Each was reported in fewer than 1% of patients. More serious effects include suppression of the body’s natural steroid hormone production, which can lead to insufficient steroid hormone levels during treatment or after stopping. Contact your doctor if you are concerned about this risk; treatment may need to be changed. Diprolene may also increase the risk of cataracts and glaucoma. Contact your doctor if you notice any changes in vision, as an eye specialist assessment may be needed.

Before taking this medicine
Do not use Diprolene if you are allergic to betamethasone dipropionate, other corticosteroids or any ingredient in the medicine. Caution is needed when treating large areas, using covered dressings, using it for a prolonged period, or applying it to skin with an impaired barrier. People with liver failure and children are also at increased risk of suppression of the body’s natural steroid hormone production. This can lead to insufficient steroid hormone levels during treatment or after stopping. Diprolene may increase the risk of cataracts and glaucoma. If you notice changes in vision, tell your prescriber; an eye specialist assessment may be needed.

Storage
Store below 25°C with the cap closed, away from direct light and heat. Do not freeze. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
