About Desonide
Overview
Desonide cream is a low-potency corticosteroid for use on the skin. It is used to relieve inflammation and itching caused by skin conditions that respond to corticosteroids. It works by reducing inflammation and easing itching in the affected skin.

Side effects
Reported side effects of desonide cream include itching, burning, irritation, redness, pain, rash, inflamed hair follicles, pus-filled rash, sweating and swelling. Other skin reactions reported infrequently with topical corticosteroids include dryness, acne-like breakouts, rash around the mouth, heat rash, stretch marks and lighter skin colour. These reactions may occur more often when treated skin is covered with an airtight dressing or when higher-potency corticosteroids are used. Effects that warrant contacting your doctor include skin infection, allergic skin reactions and skin thinning. Increased blood sugar and abnormal liver function tests were also reported in desonide cream trials and should be discussed with your doctor.
