About Aurlumyn
Overview
Aurlumyn contains iloprost, a synthetic version of a naturally occurring substance called prostacyclin. It is used to treat severe frostbite in adults to reduce the risk of finger or toe amputation. It works by widening blood vessels and reducing the clumping of platelets. Its effectiveness was established in young, healthy adults who developed frostbite at high altitudes.

Side effects
Common side effects include headache, flushing, palpitations or a fast heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, dizziness and low blood pressure. Aurlumyn can cause low blood pressure with symptoms, which warrants contacting a doctor. Your healthcare team should monitor your vital signs when treatment begins.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
